On March 29 and 30 at the 5th auction of Tiberius Auctions, we will experience a shift in the European auctioning business. For the first time, seven cryptocurrencies will be accepted as standard means of payment for artworks and antiques, next to conventional Euro payments. Through the integration of the future-oriented crypto payment service of SALAMANTEX, Tiberius Auctions is now pioneering a new payment option and can therefore reach a more international and digitally-savvy customer base. Tiberius Auctions is the first European auction house to offer this modern way of payment in the European art market, satisfying a need from its international audience.
Payment as easy as in Euro
With the Austrian FinTech expert SALAMANTEX, the auction house selected a strategic partner to future-proof its payment services. Payment is as easy and fast as in conventional Euro: the buyer confirms the real-time exchange rate of the chosen cryptocurrency by scanning the QR code with a camera-enabled smartphone wallet. Currently, the software enables payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, Ripple, Stellar, and Nimiq. The auction house has the choice to receive the cryptocurrency or the purchase amount in Euro, to be protected from the volatility risk of cryptocurrencies.
